8 months old!

My little girl is 8 months old! This has been a great summer, super busy but full of fun!

Althea waves "hi," she is moving and grooving like crazy. She grazes on whatever she finds on her travels, be it fuzz, or dirt or her favorite...shoes.

Sometimes I think she purposely goes for Reid's things that she knows he doesn't want her to have/eat.

Today we moved her crib mattress down because she was pulling herself up on the crib rail. We are in trouble!

She is a sweetheart, who has a really big spot in her heart for her brother. No one can make her laugh like Reid can.  Although right now he is more concerned with protecting all of his stuff :)

This tiny little being has an enormous personality.

This is her funny face she makes. She tucks her bottom lip up over her top one and sucks in her cheeks. It's super funny.   She is beautiful, she is fun, she is smart, and I just love her to pieces. Sometimes (actually all the time) I have to bite my bottom lip to prevent myself from squeezing her too hard, because she is just so cute. Is that weird?

Oh and by the way, these are the knees of a summer crawler!

The last day.

 received a diploma today.

Today this lover of learning graduated from preschool!

 Reid Thomas we are so proud of you. We love you and we hope with all of our might that we can continue to teach you to love learning. Congratulation little man. Always remember that you are smart and important and you can be anything you want to be and do anything you set your mind to.

I'm not going to lie. This day was hard on me emotionally.  I had no problems sending him to preschool. That was easy. It was so fun to see him grow and make new friends, learn new things and most of all learn respect and cooperation. It's hard that it is over. It was such a big milestone in his little life. Now we will move on to the next big thing, but first of all..... a fun pit stop called SUMMER!

7 Months!

So I got done with all these pictures and realized that she had peas all over her top and I forgot her flower headband.

So my little babe will be 7 months old tomorrow. She is doing so much.

You are the baby that is a momma's girl.

You are the baby that loves to take baths.
You are the baby that likes tags.
You are the baby that I had no idea I could have this much love for.

You are not only that baby, you are our baby. Everyday as I ask the Earth, God, and the Universe to watch over you and keep you safe, healthy and away from harm. I wonder how I got so lucky as to be your mom.
Hang on and hang on tight little girlie, this wild ride is going to continue!

Eating

These pictures were taken of Althea's first "solid" food attempt. This girl LOVES to eat. Seriously loves it.

I'll take a few more pictures of her eating now that she has gotten really good at it! Although she was pretty good from the start!

6 months

Wait a minute. Did I just write 6 months? Wow, time flies when you are busy. Althea is 6 months old!!! A half of a year? Wow. She is our little ball of joy, she is one smart and beautiful little package. She weighed in at 12 lbs. 5 oz. and measured in length 25 1/4 in. She is just a little peanut but man does she love to play, move, groove and grab! We love you Sweet Pea!

Let's see, Althea is 5.5 months old. Just two weeks shy of 6 months old we decided it was time for some rice cereal for her. She is a pro. It didn't take her very long to figure out that it is fun to eat. She kicks her legs and giggles for more food! Pictures to come.
She loves to play with her toys and watch her brother. She likes me a lot too :) She is a particular little human being. She will not drink from a bottle some days but willingly does so others, she refuses to drink formula, some days she likes other people and some days she doesn't. We just don't know what we are going to get! She is super happy and smiley, a little bashful, and just plain cuddly.

Reid is doing great. He loves the human body model he received in his Easter basket. He is obsessed with a game at the library called the Amazing Human Body and knows all the answers. He makes huge proclaimations for a 3.5 year old such as, "Do you know that the kidneys clean your blood?" and he will tell complete strangers about their bladders and intestines. He loves to make lists. They can be of anything...dinosaur lists, grocery lists, animal lists, etc. He likes to write and practice his letters. He is interested in instructional tv on pbs, "My Beautiful House," mostly. It is a show where they follow children around their homes all over the world. He now wants to visit children in Indonesia and Cuba. Right now his favorite game is "Hammer," in which we all throw pillows and blankets at one another and hammer and claw each other. Doesn't that sound like fun?
