Ahh Santa

I know these posts are a little late but better late than never. Reid really liked Santa. I showed him a picture of his cousins sitting on Santa's lap before we went.
When we got there I told him he could sit on his lap just like his cousin James. He walked right up to Santa and put his arms up to get picked up. It was really really cute.
He loved the little place where Santa was. It was a whole room full of trees and little scenes. He just ran and ran and ran from place to place checking out all the lights. What happens to a little boy who won't smile for the camera? He gets his cheeks squeezed. Isn't this hilarious? I love it.

The Nest

Reid discovered that he is tall enough to get up in his rocking chair. He gets in and he needs his pillow and blankets. We call it his "nest."Pretending to be sleeping with the Zillow on the pillow.See I told you he was pretending.

By the way he is also tall enough now to close doors by holding onto the door knobs. Fun little things to watch him figure out.

In Case You Didn't See Us

over the holidays, here is a picture of Reid right after his haircut.

SQUISH

So Reid got a haircut last night. She cut and cut and cut some more. He looks like such a little bruiser. I could just squeeze him. He's still sleeping but when he wakes up I'll post a picture because let me tell you.....Squish.

Little Things and 18 months

Wow, Reid is 18 months old. Seems like a week ago we were just learning everything about bringing him home from the hospital. But as I snap back to reality so much is different...OBVIOUSLY. Anyway, he seems huge. Sometimes I stare at him in his crib and he just looks enormous. He is smart. And man is he fast.
There are so many "little things" that I never want to forget. Reid has quite the little vocabulary and it grows every day.
Ghuck (stuck)
Ahh-Ba-Ma (Our President if asked)
Pop! (when the toast is finished)
Bop (mainly when he hits his head, which is lessening)
Boom (lots of things)
Mor (more)
Up
On
Off
Tisk Tisk Tisk (music, mostly I want music on NOW)
Ho ho (that is what Santa says)
The list goes on but these are my favorites.

Other things I want to remember:
"The password" (To go and be carried into the basement Reid must present a password, which is a kiss and a hug)
The way he runs full speed into our arms.
How much he loves to be outside. His first few sled rides this winter.
Wide eyes at the Christmas tree.
How he can point out everything in "Goodnight Moon."
Pens and toothbrushes, well we could do without this habit but they seems to be security for him.

7 glorious......

hours of sleep. Yes you heard it right I got 7 hours of sleep last night. That is more sleep than I've gotten in a night in probably a month. I feel like a champion. I'm not going to lie this past month has been really really hard on me. Between colds, ear infections, stomach bugs, diarrhea diapers, H1N1 vaccinations, surgery, work, and more work, and my completely unfestive house I felt like I had been through the wringer. Yesterday was not a good day. Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like the whole day is the straw that breaks the camel's back? That was my day yesterday. I won't bore you with the details but I'll tell you it ended with a cart FULL of stuff a forgotten wallet and poop on the shower curtain. Anyway I realize that none of this stuff is life threatening and I have a happy (for the most part :) and healthy family. I'm thankful I really am, I was just tired plain and simple. But today is today and it's going to be a good one. I can just feel it. Yes people I feel it so let's get out there and GO!! I'm going to finish up a job, maybe just maybe get a picture of Reid for our unfinished Christmas card and maybe he'll smile (I've had many attempts already so you all may be getting a nonsmile card), and maybe get this house decorated so Reid can start to see what Christmas is all about! Thanks family for all your help, what would I do without you?

I have a few things I need to write down about Reid but I guess that will be another post. He is quite a character. For now enjoy these pictures of us getting our Christmas tree.
We got to enjoy a fire also! A working portrait of my dad, I love this picture. Here are our turkeys, they visit us often

Welcome Winter

We welcomed our first snow fall that I've been waiting for, with it unfortunately came an ear infection. At least we know and now can probably get some rest.

Someone sent me this and I thought it was fitting since I spent a large portion of my day rocking and holding my little man while all the things and work that I was suppose to be doing weren't getting done.

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up, we've learned, to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep!!

If only I could somehow substitute editing and pathing and photographing in there. (Not that my house couldn't use some help too :)

Having some fun

These are from back in October, I forgot we had them! I was just goofing around with the lights for a quick shoot for a friend of mine and Reid jumped in so the lights weren't perfect but he was a willing participant :)

Photo Shoot Fun

So this picture was taken in the same place as the blog header, which is my ultimate favorite picture to date so far. But......as you can see it was the only good picture out of over a hundred pictures taken there. Yeah, this one is cute but not as cute as the header picture. I worked and tried I jumped up and down and put stickers on my nose but I could not get a smile out of Reid by this really cool brick wall. But not really being a photographer of families and children I didn't think of the obviously I should have had candy!

Halloween Part II

I'll start with my favorite picture of the night.....Ha, this is too cute. I have better pictures of the pumpkins from later in the night when they really look lit up but Reid wasn't into it, but this shot is just perfect! Look at that face.

You'll have to excuse some of the backgrounds. He just came out of the house so happy, and not grabbing for the camera that I went a little shutter crazy!

The first sucker he's ever had in his little life :)And what night would be complete without "the silly face?"Just love this one. When we were little my mom would make us bacon, eggs, and pancakes when we came home from trick or treating because it's such hard work! This picture reminded me of that.I must have told Kevin a hundred times that Halloween was so fun this year. It was just a blast watching Reid get so excited it just made my night. All and all it was VICTORIOUS, and you can see Reid thought so too.

Halloween Part 1

I'll start off by saying Reid LOVED Halloween. Loved, loved, loved it.
He started off by answering the door and handing out candy then we went out around the block for about an hour and by the time we got back he was just warming up and b-lined it across the street to the neighbors house where Halloween is a very very important holiday. When he woke up the next morning he grabbed his pumpkin pail and went straight to the door!
So here are a few pictures of Reid in his costume and there will be more of the actual trick or treating experience. I have a lot of great ones! This picture makes me want to run upstairs and wake him up to SQUEEZE him. Clap clap clap, I want the lights to keep flashing.

I really really needed Reid to not cry for the camera.....

......not only because I'm tired of taking pictures like thisand like this....(seriously? Wow kiddo.)
but because I really needed to document the funniest thing in the whole world....So....I did this and this ...........and thisWhich turned out to be pretty cool in his little world. He realized that whatever had been in front of the camera we could now see in the LCD screen. He now points out the rug or his pumpkin in the kitchen after seeing the picture on the camera, pretty cool association for a parent to watch happen........any whoooo to the fun stuff, like I was saying the funniest thing ever........
and here it is....I can barely look at this without busting out laughing. Let me tell you this face has given us hours of laughter. We constantly ask him to make his silly face we imitate him, we laugh. Look at the muscles in his neck, I only wish I captured the hands they are usually in tight fists.
(For all you photogs out there doesn't he crazily look like "Boy with grenade" by Diane Arbus?)

Cake Syndrome

He was interested...... even thought about digging in.....until the seeds and goo "accidentally" touched his arm.......Forget it....Definitely in need of being rescued.
